Relish Restaurant and Bar, a River Oaks neighborhood eatery, is planning to move from its hotspot, making way for Island Grill American Mediterranean. The Mediterranean restaurant announced its sixth opening in the region on July 21st, taking over the current space Relish operates in, according to the Houston Business Journal. Relish Restaurant and Bar will move from its current space at 2810 Westheimer Road to Transwestern’s new 17-acre mixed-use development, The RO, at 3120 Buffalo Speedway.
The plan is for Relish to remain at its current River Oaks location on Westheimer Road until the end of the year, then Island Grill American Mediterranean will take over the space. No word just yet on when exactly the new Relish Restaurant and Bar will open at The RO, which is still under development.
What Now Houston reached out to co-founder and owner Executive Chef Dustin Teague to find out more about the move and possible additions to the new space. Unfortunately, we did not hear back by the time of this publication.
Teague founded the establishment with his wife, Addie D’Agostino, in 2011, opening a quaint neighborhood market and pantry concept called Relish Fine Foods after returning from New York’s French Culinary Institute. In 2016, the two married and transformed the concept into a full-service neighborhood restaurant and bar in River Oaks, taking over the former Bird & the Bear space on Westheimer Road. By 2024, the couple had expanded their footprint by opening a second Relish Restaurant and Bar location in Memorial’s Town & Country Village.
“Our ambition is to serve the people of Houston today in a way that earns us a constant place in the hearts of the Houstonians to come,” the Relish Restaurant and Bar website reads.
“We cherish every opportunity to serve you.”

Offering refined American classics with French and Italian Mediterranean influences, Relish features a warm, chic atmosphere serving lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch.
“Our menu features refined American classics with touches of Mediterranean influences from Italy and France. We provide a chic, uncluttered, and familiar ambience for you to truly relax,” the brand’s website reads.
“From there, we will take care of you to the absolute highest standards of guest satisfaction throughout your dining experience. Our employees are deeply valued members of our family and will pass that sense of belonging and pleasure to you during your time with us.”
Try out or return to the Houston fave when Relish Restaurant & Bar moves and opens at its new location in The RO, at 3120 Buffalo Speedway, sometime next year.
