Sushi Tomoki, a Japanese restaurant specializing in sushi, sashimi, and omakase, is developing a second location at 14622 W. Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks.
Owner Tomoki Hombe recently submitted documents to the Los Angeles City Planning Department for the new restaurant. The filing requests clearance to sell and serve alcoholic beverages for on-site consumption in conjunction with a restaurant. The filing does not provide an opening date for the new location.
The Sherman Oaks restaurant would be the second Sushi Tomoki location. The company’s current location is at 3791 Cahuenga Blvd. in Studio City. The planning documents have not provided additional details about the new restaurant, including its size, number of seats, operating hours, or whether it will serve a full line of alcoholic beverages or beer and wine only.
Sushi Tomoki’s current menu includes sushi and sashimi featuring tuna, yellowtail, salmon, white fish, shellfish, and other seafood. The restaurant also offers hand rolls, cut rolls, rice bowls, appetizers, desserts, and several omakase options. Its sushi menu includes toro, bluefin tuna, Japanese wagyu, Santa Barbara sea urchin, and Japanese sea urchin from Hokkaido.
The omakase offerings range from the Ume No. 1, which includes sashimi, 10 pieces of sushi, a hand roll, and miso soup, to the Matsu No. 3, which includes an appetizer, sashimi, eight pieces of sushi, soup, wagyu beef or fish, chawan mushi, a special hand roll, and dessert. Sushi Tomoki also offers rolls including Dragon, Rainbow, Lemon, and Seared Salmon with Truffle.
The new restaurant will be located at La Reina Shopping Center on Ventura Boulevard. According to LoopNet, the shopping center has 133 parking spaces and includes other businesses such as Dave’s Hot Chicken, Noah’s Bagel, Lemon Zest, CycleBar, Cold Stone, and Ideology Coffee. No further details about Sushi Tomoki’s plans for the Sherman Oaks location have been provided.
