Founded in 2009, Mozzo Deli serves up sandwiches, burgers, breakfast, and more at three locations: at 730 Coleman Blvd and 405 Faison Road, Suite 102, in Mount Pleasant, and at 616 Meeting St, Suite D, in downtown Charleston.

“When we opened, it was right after 2008,” owner Shannon Campbell told What Now on Tuesday. “But I always said, people like to eat.”

Mozzo Deli has grown a lot since then, on the strength of its menu of sandwiches like the Reuben Burger (8oz. burger w/ corned beef, Swiss, sauerkraut & Russian), the Mockingbird (Breaded chicken cutlet, crispy bacon, muenster cheese, Russian, lettuce & tomato), and the Muffaletta (Mortadella, ham, Genoa salami, mozzarella, provolone & olive salad). Now it’s preparing to expand to a fourth location in Summerville’s master-planned Nexton community.

The new Mozzo Deli will open at 410 Brighton Park Blvd this January, Campbell says. Permits are in, and a 3-to-4-month construction process is about to start.

“It’s a great area. There’s a lot of commercial there, and a lot of residential. The area is really exploding. We’re positioned to fit in really well.”

Like the Coleman Boulevard store, the new Mozzo Deli will have plenty of seating, including a lounge and gathering area, plus single bar-seats for people looking to sit and work. It will feature an open kitchen, along with an outdoor seating area facing the main street.
