Longstanding Atlanta spot Henri’s Bakery & Deli, which currently has six locations across the Atlanta market, will expand to Athens this fall. It will open at 1573 S. Lumpkin St. in the Five Points community in Athens, taking over the space formerly home to Subway.
Henri’s Bakery launched in 1929 when French-born baker Henry Fiscus bought a French bakery in Midtown Atlanta.
“Henri quickly earned a reputation for his innovative recipes, unwavering quality and genuine dedication to his customers,” the website states. “As the business grew, Henri’s became a beloved Atlanta institution, relocating over the years to Rhodes Center, Peachtree Palisades, the corner of Peachtree and Piedmont Roads, and finally to its longtime Buckhead home on Irby Avenue in 1969.”
Now, the business has locations in Buckhead, Sandy Springs, Upper Westside, Brookhaven, Peachtree Corners and Clayton.
The brand is known for its deli sandwiches ranging from roast beef po-boys to smoked turkey sandwiches, and for its bakery items such as pastries, cookies, cupcakes and brownies.
