A new sports bar is on the way to Buckhead. Illusion Sports Bar will open at 3195 Roswell Rd NW, according to a recent permit filing. The space was formerly home to Bloom Bar, which recently shuttered at the address.
Co-owner Nahom Mekonnen, who will operate the spot alongside business partners Yonathen and Amanuel Kassaye, told What Now Atlanta that the 3,100-square-foot space will undergo minor renovations and they hope to open in about three months.
“I’ve been wanting to open up a sports bar for a very long time,” Mekonnen said. “I couldn’t find the right location for it. I was driving around the city, and this space was a restaurant before, and I thought I could turn it into a sports bar.”
Mekonnen worked as a hotel and restaurant valet for about a decade prior to entering into restaurant ownership. He also owns Illusion Sports Lounge in Lawrenceville.
When Illusion Sports Bar opens, it will serve classic sports bar fare such as burgers and wings.
The space will feature seating and TVs as well as a patio with a jumbotron.
Eventually, Mekonnen envisions franchising the business to about seven locations in the next two years.
