Level 1 Arcade Bar is preparing to open at 4 E. University Dr., at the northeast corner of Mill Avenue and University Drive in Tempe. Owner Scott Goldsmith told What Now Phoenix that the team hopes to open the new location by November 1.
The company announced the expansion through a recent Instagram post. The Tempe venue will bring Level 1’s mix of restored arcade games, pinball machines, food, beer, and cocktails to Mill Avenue.
Plans call for a full kitchen serving burgers, wings, tacos, quesadillas, burritos, bowls, salads, fries, tots, nachos, and other bar fare.
The bar will offer 20 draft beers and 22 signature cocktails. The cocktail menu includes the Smash Bros., Summer of Mike D, Rainbow Brite, Hadouken, and Sub-Zero. Bottled and canned beer, wine, and nonalcoholic options will also be available. Happy hour runs Monday through Friday from 3 to 7 p.m.
Level 1’s games will use tokens. Arcade machines will require one token per play, and pinball machines will require four. Guests under 21 may visit with a parent or guardian before 7 p.m. After 7 p.m., Level 1 will welcome guests 21 and older.
The Tempe venue will become Level 1’s second active arcade bar and the third location in its history. The original Gilbert location opened in 2019 and closed in January 2025 after its lease ended. The company currently operates its Downtown Mesa location at 48 W. Main St., which offers arcade games, pinball, darts, beer, and cocktails.
