The Austin-based acai bowl and smoothie chain has permanently closed its Eastside location. After a decade-long run, Blenders and Bowls served its last drink last Sunday.

Blenders and Bowls Eastside Served Its Last Smoothie

Founded by two best friends, Erin Thompson and Kara Jordan, Blenders and Bowls is a popular healthy smoothie chain. The chain built its reputation with its thick Hawaiian-style acai bowls and healthy smoothies.

The chain also offers a variety of coffee and other drinks, and some light snacks like toasts, protein oats, and yogurts.

With an Instagram announcement post, the Blenders’ team shared the closure news. They shared that Blenders and Bowls, located at 1625 E 6th Street in Austin, has closed its doors on August 23.

The team explained that they have decided not to renew the lease of the Eastside locations. They plan to “focus our efforts on some new endeavors.”

The Blenders’ team thanked the community for their support over the years. The team also added that it was an honor for them to serve the Eastside community for the last 10 years.

The chain began its journey in 2010 as a food truck, and over time it established multiple brick-and-mortar shops across the city. According to a Chron report, the Eastside store was opened in 2016.

Two Austin Locations Remain Open

While the Eastside location has shut down, the other two Austin locations will continue to serve the community.

They added, “And don’t worry, we’re not going anywhere: come visit us at our Westlake & Lamar shops!”

Following the closure announcement, several community members and customers shared their disappointment on social media. One customer commented under the announcement post, “So many amazing memories here!”

The sudden closure of Blenders and Bowls marks the end of a long and healthy smoothie journey in the Eastside dining community.
