NBA Courtside, the basketball-focused sports bar that opened in spring 2023 in Harbourfront at 15 Queens Quay East, is closing at the end of the month. Urban Dining Group, which operates NBA Courtside, will be flipping the space into their neighborhood sports bar concept Gabby’s, according to blogTO.
For the past three years, NBA Courtside has become known for its commitment to NBA culture and its expansive on-site NBA merchandise store, with items ranging from sneakers to team gear. NBA Courtside is hosting a clearance sale through Aug. 31.
Urban Dining Group is planning a quick flip for the spot. It is aiming to open Gabby’s in the Harbourfront space in September, according to the Gabby’s website.
When Gabby’s opens, the Harbourfront space will feature HD screens throughout the room, including 16-foot 4K big screens.
“Gabby’s is the neighbourhood family restaurant and sports bar where Harbourfront families, sports fans, soccer supporters, teams, patio lovers and friends come together,” the Gabby’s website states. “Formerly Courtside Restaurant — same great viewing experience, now with 14 draft taps, craft cocktails, great food and a video game section that keeps kids and families happy.”
There will be more than 200 indoor seats and more than 75 patio seats. The space will also be available for company events and private parties.
Gabby’s launched in the Greater Toronto area in 1989. Currently, there are 17 other Gabby’s locations operating across the Greater Toronto area.
