Burnt Flour is coming to 511 S. Farmer Ave. in downtown Tempe. Perry Vashee, president and founder of Opal Hospitality, told What Now Phoenix that the restaurant is targeting an opening in late 2026 or early 2027.

The restaurant will serve wood-fired pizza made with fresh homemade dough.

Opal introduced Burnt Flour in a recent LinkedIn announcement, crediting Archer Experience as its collaborator on the project. The company said Tempe’s young, creative community prompted the team to look beyond a traditional pizza restaurant.

“We wanted something different. A full sensory experience designed to be felt, remembered, and talked about,” the company wrote.

Burnt Flour will open inside the Vīb Hotel Phoenix-Tempe, which Opal acquired and is converting into Aiden Phoenix-Tempe. The property sits near Arizona State University, and the renovation also includes updates to the lobby and rooftop, according to LODGING Magazine.

Vashee founded Opal Hospitality in 2018 with the purchase of a hotel in St. John’s, Newfoundland, which the company repositioned as a DoubleTree by Hilton. Opal now owns, develops, and manages hospitality properties across Canada and the U.S.
