Mister O1 Extraordinary Pizza is expanding its South Florida footprint with a new location planned for Coconut Creek.
The Miami-born pizza brand has listed a new restaurant at 4437 Lyons Road on its website as coming soon. No opening date has been announced.
Mister O1 is best known for its distinctive star-shaped pizzas, with pockets of ricotta cheese tucked inside the points of the crust. The signature pies have become a calling card for the brand as it has expanded beyond its Miami roots.
Founded in Miami Beach in 2014 by Italian pizza chef Renato Viola and business partner Umberto Mascagni, Mister O1 has grown to more than 30 locations, with restaurants in Florida, Georgia and Texas.
The restaurant’s name is a nod to Viola’s journey to the United States. The Italian-born pizzaiolo arrived in the country under an O-1 visa, which is granted to people recognized for extraordinary ability in their field. That designation helped inspire the name Mister O1 Extraordinary Pizza.
The restaurant specializes in thin-crust pizzas made with dough that rests for at least 72 hours before baking. Its best-known creations include the Star Luca, topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella, spicy salami calabrese, Italian sausage and fresh basil, with ricotta filling the points of its star-shaped crust.
Other offerings include traditional and specialty pizzas, salads and burrata dishes.
The Coconut Creek restaurant will add another Broward County location for Mister O1, which already operates in Fort Lauderdale, Dania Beach, Miramar and Pembroke Pines, along with numerous restaurants across Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties.
