“After 38 wonderful years on historic Palm Avenue, we’ve sadly had to close our doors temporarily,” Caragiulo’s Italian American, a longstanding downtown Sarasota favorite, announced on its website. “The historic, 100-year-old Mira Mar building is being redeveloped over the next few years, so we needed to find a new home.”
Plans to reopen Caragiulo’s in its new home at 1833 Ringling Blvd appear to have taken a bit longer than expected. But after coming across plan review documents submitted by Caragiulo Inc., What Now reached out to a representative of the restaurant this week. The representative confirmed that Caragiulo’s is about 30 days from a reopening.
Signs of life are plainly visible online too, where Caragiulo’s is staying active on its social media profiles.
“It’s been all hands on deck these days!” says one post, dated July 28. “The family and crew are putting in the work, getting every last detail ready for our next chapter.”
Another post, on June 3, announced the start of hiring.
Asked if the menu at Caragiulo’s will feature any new items, the representative answered in the affirmative—some new dishes will be coming, but the details are staying under wraps for now!
Stay tuned for more details as the Caragiulo’s reopening approaches.
