Electric Owl has permanently closed in Los Angeles after nearly a decade near West Hollywood. The restaurant announced the closure on social media on September 1 without providing a reason for the decision. The decision led to longtime customers expressing their disappointment on social media.
Electric Owl Closes Its Doors
Electric Owl was a popular restaurant and cocktail bar in Los Angeles located at 1451 N. Gardner St. near Sunset Boulevard. The restaurant was known for its vintage railway theme.
The restaurant announced the news on social media on September 1. The post reads, “After almost 10 incredible years, Electric Owl has closed its doors. We’re deeply grateful to everyone who walked through them, worked beside us, and made this place what it was.”
Chef and restaurateur Ernesto Uchimura created Electric Owl on a triangular site tied to the area’s Pacific Electric railway history. Its name “Electric Owl” was inspired from a nickname for nighttime train conductors in the early 1900s.
The restaurant’s 1920s-inspired design evoked an old train station and dining car. It features outdoor patio seating and an Old Hollywood feel.
Electric Owl’s menu included the L.A. Smash Burger, the Grill Daddy Burger, and Dynamite! Krabby Patty, fried chicken, and more. It also offered martinis, cocktails, and several signature drinks.
