The Bucket Tavern is taking over the space currently occupied by Empire Pizza at 12292 Sidney Rd. SW, according to a liquor license application filed with the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board.
Co-owner Barrett Rickman told What Now Seattle that he and his wife, Brooke Rickman, plan to open in October. The owners are giving the space a fresh coat of paint and intend to keep it a neighborhood bar.
“We’re planning to do an elevated dive bar,” Barrett said.
Pizza will remain on the menu, but the owners have reduced the number of items to help the kitchen maintain consistency. The dough is made in-house, cold-fermented, and baked crisp. Customers can order cheese, pepperoni, Meat Lovers, Combo, Hawaiian, or a rotating house pie.
Other options include wings, fried chicken strips, tater tots, fries, salads, and a one-third-pound burger. The drinks menu lists rotating draft beers, cans, bottles, well drinks, and spirits.
The owners also plan to offer karaoke and live music. Bingo and trivia are still in the works.
Rickman is waiting for the final health permit before setting an opening date. He plans to start with a soft opening to give the staff time to settle into the kitchen.
