A curated discovery shop aiming to bring the fun back to grocery shopping is coming soon to Greenwich Village.
Owner Sloane Kraftsow will put down permanent roots at 58 W. 8th St. after hosting a series of pop-ups around the city.
“We stock emerging food, drink, beauty and lifestyle brands before they reach mainstream retail—chosen because they’re good, not because they’re trending,” the website reads.
The Shelf will offer pantry essentials ranging from salty and sweet snacks, such as BonBon potato chips and Byte’m brownie bites, to protein-packed options, including granola bars and Strip Jerky, along with sauces and a variety of drinks.
Beyond food and pantry staples, The Shelf will also carry beauty products, “sexy” products, pet grooming items and its own line of merchandise.
Everything will be sold individually, allowing customers to try something new without committing to a full case or pack. The selection will rotate regularly, giving shoppers different products to discover.
Customers looking to discover new products each month can subscribe to “The Shelf Monthly,” a curated box featuring six to eight full-size products. Boxes are available in gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free and no-restrictions options.
An official opening date has not yet been announced, but visit The Shelf’s website and follow the store on Instagram for the latest updates.
