Located at 909 Houston Northcutt Blvd in Mount Pleasant, Philosophia offers “A Modern Take on Greek Hospitality.” After building a following, the brand expanded with sister concept Taverna-Sophia, as What Now reported in the summer of 2023. (It’s located at 976 Houston Northcutt Blvd.)
Now, TYSM Hospitality, the hospitality group headed up by owners Justin Hunt and Dimitri Hatgidimitriou, is bringing the Philosophia brand to Charleston, where submitted permits show an opening in the works at 826 Foundation St, Suite 104, in the Point Hope master-planned community.
“We’re looking at a mid-October opening,” Dimitri Hatgidimitriou told What Now on Thursday. “Point Hope has a lot of apartments, a young crowd we’re trying to reach with this location. We’re very excited to get open.”
Hatgidimitriou says the new location will feature a dining room whose large bar will seat about 20 guests. On the menu, you’ll find the same great favorites that have made the Mount Pleasant location popular. There’s the Trio, featuring htipiti, hummus, and tzatziki served with grilled pita; there’s Pastitsio, with “baked layers of aromatic ground beef, ziti pasta, bechamel, and whipped ricotta”; and then there are mezze boards like the Wednesday Evening Classic Mezze board, featuring Fried Spanakopita, Keftedes, Kolokithokeftedes, Tyropita, and Saganaki—plus lots more.
Opening in the Foundation Street location, Philosophia will join nearby restaurants like Ye Ole Fashioned Ice Cream & Sandwich Cafe and Catrina’s Tacos & Tequila.
