In December 2024, Jeff and Jody Musselman launched a new project in honor of an old friend. The couple launched Salty Pup Coffeehouse & Wine Bar in Gulfport, offering coffee, wine, breakfast, and lunch in a cafe named after their late labradoodle, Hampton.
“We always called him a salty little dog, our salty pup,” Jody Musselman told What Now this week.
As the business came to life, the Musselmans began discussing the idea of expanding the business to a bigger location and adding a market and gallery component.
“We had talked about the idea early last year, when we had about six months under our belt at the current location,” said Musselman. “We wanted to stay close to Gulfport. We have close ties to that community; our guests are fantastic. So we were just waiting for the right building.”
Now that idea is coming to fruition in late 2026: Salty Pup Coffeehouse & Wine Bar will relocate to 4700 22nd Ave. S. in St. Petersburg. The new location is an expansion in just about every sense: the new Salty Pup will work longer hours (staying open until 5 p.m.), will be growing its beer and wine list, and will even be adding weekend brunch.
Meanwhile, in a connected space, the Musselmans will launch Electric Flamingo, a new market and gallery with space available to vendors.
“It will be a curated collection of about 29 dealers and artists housed under one roof,” said Musselman. “We have booths that range from 9-by-7 to 5-by-2, and gallery space.”

The Salty Pup Coffeehouse and Electric Flamingo are working toward an opening in December.
