Hunter’s Bagels is preparing to open at 19905 W. Catawba Ave., Cornelius, according to Cornelius Today, which recently profiled the new business and its owners. Brothers-in-law Brandon Kurz and Andrew Roth are behind the concept, with the shop expected to open soon.
According to Cornelius Today, Hunter’s Bagels is occupying the former Coffee Republic & Bakery space on West Catawba Avenue. The publication reported that the space has undergone a full renovation, with Kurz involved in developing a warm, lodge-inspired interior. The owners also invested in commercial bagel-making equipment, including an Empire oven, as part of their preparation for the opening.
According to Hunter’s Bagels’ website, Kurz and Roth grew up in families connected to the bagel business, making the new shop an extension of a long-standing family tradition. The website states that both owners relocated to Cornelius from South Florida before deciding to establish the business locally. It also explains that the concept’s name comes from Kurz’s young son, Hunter, for whom Roth would make fresh bagels.
The shop’s menu, as published by Hunter’s Bagels, will feature a selection of traditional and specialty bagels, including plain, everything, sesame, onion, garlic, blueberry, cinnamon raisin, Asiago and jalapeño cheddar. The menu also includes several schmears and spreads, such as scallion, vegetable, lox, hummus, maple bacon, Nutella and strawberry.
Hunter’s Bagels will also have a bakery and beverage selection, according to its website. Customers can expect cookies, muffins, cinnamon rolls and crumb cake, along with coffee, espresso, lattes, iced coffee, tea, fresh juices, Dr. Brown’s and Coca-Cola products.
With its West Catawba Avenue location, extensive bagel selection and deli-style menu, Hunter’s Bagels is preparing to establish a new neighborhood destination in Cornelius focused on traditional bagel-shop fare and family recipes. Cornelius Today reported that the owners were putting the finishing touches on the space ahead of the anticipated opening.
