Fronteras Mexican Cuisine is expanding its Columbus-area footprint with a second location planned for Grandview Heights, according to recent local reporting from the Business Journal.

The family-owned Mexican restaurant currently operates at 6608 E. Broad St. in Columbus and is planning to open another location in Grandview Heights in fall 2026. An exact address and specific opening date have not yet been announced.

The restaurant is owned by the Macias family, led by siblings Abraham, Abigail, Amalia, Esteban, Onecimo and Jose Macias. The family has built its restaurant portfolio around Mexican cuisine, with Fronteras describing its concept around tacos, tequila and wine.

The upcoming Grandview Heights location will mark the second Fronteras Mexican Cuisine restaurant for the family. Abraham Macias told Columbus Underground that the family was planning the expansion but did not provide a specific address or opening date beyond the fall timeframe.

The expansion comes as the Macias family continues to grow its restaurant portfolio in Columbus. In August, the family opened KVIDA Modern Mexican Bar at 119 E. Fifth Ave. in Italian Village. The restaurant occupies the former Zaftig Brewing space and offers a menu influenced by Mexican, Puerto Rican, Colombian, Venezuelan, Peruvian and Cuban cuisines.

KVIDA also features a tequila-focused bar, with beer and additional spirits available. The restaurant has announced plans to operate as a nightclub on Friday and Saturday nights, with Latino music and a future Sunday brunch planned.

For Fronteras, the Grandview Heights project represents another step in the Macias family’s continued expansion throughout the Columbus restaurant scene. More details about the new location, including its exact address, construction plans, menu and opening date, are expected to be announced as the project progresses.

What Now Columbus reached out to the Macias family for additional details about the upcoming location but did not receive a response at the time of publication.
