German footwear brand Birkenstock is continuing its expansion of standalone stores in the U.S., and it appears it has one on the way to Atlanta. Birkenstock is seeking to open a 1,891-square-foot store at Lenox Square in a space not far from Macy’s, according to construction plans.
Birkenstock first opened a standalone U.S. store in 2018 in SoHo in New York City. Since then, it has expanded to 14 locations across Texas, Massachusetts, New York, California, Florida, Illinois and Tennessee. The Lenox Square store would mark the brand’s first foray into Georgia for a standalone store.
The brand has centuries-old roots in Germany. It has become known for its high-end clogs and sandals.
What Now Atlanta reached out to Birkenstock for additional information regarding the Lenox Square store. It appears the location is in the early stages of development and an opening timeline is unclear.
