Pecan Street Station Deli and Grill will close its Pflugerville restaurant this weekend after 26 years in business. The owner of the deli shared the closure news on social media.
Pflugerville’s Pecan Street Station Deli Prepares to Close
Popularly known for its casual and friendly small-town cafe vibe, the Pecan Street Station Deli and Grill was originally founded in 2000. The menu offers fresh, scratch-made, large portions of Southern and Texas comfort food at an affordable price.
It built a strong following in the community with its signature grill items and hearty burgers. Recommended items include cheesesteak sandwiches, pancakes, French toast, chicken tenders, and more.
Through a Facebook post, the owner shared that Pecan Street Station Deli, located in the heart of the Pflugerville neighborhood, will permanently shutter. The deli will serve its final customers on October 11.
The owner thanked the employees for their hard work and dedication. He also wrote an appreciation note for the customers and said, “Thank you for every visit, every meal, and every memory. This place has been a huge part of my life, and I’m grateful to have shared it with you.”
In the post, the owner also encouraged the community to visit the deli and enjoy one more meal before its final day of service.
Why Is Pecan Street Station Deli Closing?
Owner Paul Prestridge purchased the deli from its previous owners in 2016. He was a former employee of the deli and worked at the deli for 18 years. “When the previous owner decided to retire, I had the opportunity to buy the business,” said Paul in the post.
Prestridge acknowledged that buying the business without owning the building was a risk. Despite the risk, Prestridge said he decided to purchase the business because of his connection to the restaurant.
After purchasing the business, he stated that his goal “was to keep the restaurant running, keep our employees working, and continue serving the customers and community who have supported us for so long.”
In the closure announcement, Prestridge said the building is up for sale. He added, “Our business was still profitable, which makes having to leave this location especially difficult.”
Prestridge said the restaurant will share updates about any future relocation as more information becomes available.
