A new bar and lounge appears to be headed to South Los Angeles, in a space that sat vacant for five years after a longtime neighborhood club shut its doors.

According to public filings, a concept under the project name Robles Lounge plans to open at 1437 and 1439 West Florence Avenue, with beer and wine service for on-site consumption, along with live entertainment and public dancing.

The space was previously operated as Club Reno, a bar established in 1985 that closed in 2021, according to the application.

Applicant Magali Llerenas is listed behind the new concept. What Now Los Angeles reached out to Llerenas for comment and to inquire about the opening timeline but did not receive a response prior to publication.

The proposed lounge would span 1,890 square feet, including a 271-square-foot bar area and a 191-square-foot dance floor, with room for live bands of up to three people, darts, a pool table, and a jukebox. Plans call for 38 indoor seats, eight on-site parking spaces, and daily hours from 4 p.m. to midnight, according to the filing.

The Florence Avenue corridor has continued to see steady commercial and real estate activity in recent years.

What Now Los Angeles previously reported on a planned 27-unit apartment project nearby, at 1204 and 1206 West Florence Avenue, part of a broader wave of development along the same stretch of South LA.
