Crate & Barrel could be the next retailer to take over a vacant site at St. Johns Town Center, with plans identifying the home furnishings brand at a property previously slated for a Pinstripes entertainment venue.
The proposed location is at 10274 Buckhead Branch Drive in Jacksonville. The site is now the subject of city permitting activity, according to the Jacksonville Daily Record, which reported on the plans October 2 and updated its report October 7 to note that a permit had been issued.
The property had previously been earmarked for Pinstripes, a bowling, dining and entertainment concept that did not move forward with its Jacksonville project.
Crate & Barrel has not publicly confirmed an opening date for the proposed store, and further details about the project, including its size and construction timeline, remain unclear.
Founded in Chicago in 1962, Crate & Barrel has grown into an international home furnishings retailer offering contemporary furniture, kitchenware, tableware, textiles, lighting and home décor. Its product range covers everything from sofas and dining tables to cookware, dinnerware and decorative accessories.
The company also offers design services and wedding registry programs, combining its in-store shopping experience with online sales.
For now, the project remains in the planning and permitting stages, with no confirmed opening date announced by the retailer.
