West End Bagels is preparing to expand into Waxhaw, bringing its New York-style bagels, homemade cream cheeses, and deli offerings to a second location and a new state. The shop is planned for New Town Market at 1526 Providence Road South, and is targeted to open in the next few months, according to posts from the company.
It will take over the former Java’s Brewing Bakery and Café space. The new shop will mark another step in the business’s expansion; its original location was in Clifton Park, New York, and owners Chris Naughton and Donna Arini brought the concept to Indian Land, South Carolina, in 2021.
The owners’ shared appreciation for New York City bagels and scratch-made recipes inspired the idea behind West End Bagels, its website shares. Its menu features freshly made bagels, homemade cream cheeses, breakfast and deli sandwiches, baked goods, and coffee.
In a social media response posted after the initial announcement, the business indicated that it was working through the opening process and hoped to welcome customers by the end of 2026. An exact opening date has not been confirmed.
