Salted Lime Bar & Kitchen Announces Closure in New Jersey

Salted Lime Bar & Kitchen is a Latin-inspired restaurant that is located at 46 E. Main Street in downtown Somerville. It is known for its creative menu, specialty cocktails, and casual dining atmosphere. However, the restaurant has announced that it will be closing on October 30.

The restaurant announced the news of its upcoming closure on social media. It thanked the community for its support over the years, calling the decision difficult. The restaurant does not share the reason behind the closure.

The post reads, “Unfortunately, I have made the difficult decision to sell Salted Lime. This was not a choice I made lightly, as the restaurant business has been a big part of my life for the past 23 years. While it is never easy to close one chapter and move on to the next, I feel the time has come to do so.”

Salted Lime Bar & Kitchen serves Latin American food with influences from Central and South America. Its small plates include Colombian-style empanadas, queso fondue, and crispy yuca fries. The menu also features Colombian-style hot dogs and stuffed sweet plantains, along with chorizo dishes.

In the post announcing its closure, the restaurant also shares news of another concept taking over its space. It expresses its support for the incoming owners but does not identify the new restaurant or provide details about its concept.

Community Reacts to the Closure

Several longtime customers have also shared their memories of the space.

A customer on Instagram commented, “We loved Salted Lime! I’m so sad about the restaurant closing. The food, the drinks, and the service—all will be missed terribly.”

Another customer commented, “You’ll definitely be missed; you were one of my gluten-free safe places to eat.”

A customer also wrote, “Loved everything I ever ate here and the best margaritas in the area. This is sad. Truly hope that a decent sports bar with good drinks, food, and lots of TVs moves in. Town desperately needs one that is good!”
