Wabi on Rose has closed its doors in Venice this month. The restaurant’s closure brings an end to its six-year run in the neighborhood. The announcement prompted customers to share farewell messages on social media.
Wabi on Rose Closes Its Doors Permanently in Venice, Los Angeles
Wabi on Rose has permanently closed its restaurant at 512 Rose Avenue, Suite F, in Venice. Its menu featured sushi and specialty rolls alongside small plates and cocktails. The restaurant shared the news of its closure on social media on October 14.
In its post on social media, the restaurant thanks the community for its years of support. Although the restaurant expressed sadness about closing, it did not explain why it was shutting down.
The restaurant wrote, “After many wonderful years of serving the community, we are permanently closing our doors.”
Wabi on Rose was a Japanese-inspired restaurant and cocktail bar. The menu featured sushi, sashimi, specialty rolls, small plates, and wood-fired dishes.
Some of the menu highlights included the Tiger King roll, crispy rice, spicy Wagyu dumplings, and other dishes. The restaurant had a contemporary design, outdoor patio seating, and a lively bar scene.

Customers React to the Closure
Wabi on Rose has a longer history than its six years on Rose Avenue. According to a Hoodline, its predecessor, Wabi Sabi, operated on Abbot Kinney Boulevard for 19 years. It was destroyed in a fire and subsequently reopened as Wabi on Rose.
Several customers expressed disappointment in response to the closure announcement. One customer on Instagram wrote, “The best lychee martinis. You will be missed, Wabi.”
Another customer wrote, “Nooooo, that spicy marg will go down in history as the best in town.”
A customer also wrote, “The Rick James roll is irreplaceable. Do you realize how many special moments I shared here with loved ones.”
Wabi on Rose’s closure marks the end of a six-year chapter for the Venice restaurant.
