A celebrated Thai-Japanese restaurant concept with a loyal following in East Los Angeles is expanding west. According to the WestEdge development mall, Kinkan plans to open at 12121 W. Olympic Blvd. in Los Angeles.

Kinkan is an Asian restaurant known for its Thai cuisine with Japanese influences. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner, as well as chirashi bento boxes for takeout, offering both a sit-down dining experience and a convenient grab-and-go option.

What Now Los Angeles reached out to founder and chef Nan Yimcharoen, who shared that the opening timeline has been delayed due to construction challenges.

According to the owner, the WestEdge location is a strategic move for a brand that has built its reputation as a destination, drawing loyal customers willing to travel significant distances.

The new address would bring Kinkan meaningfully closer to the communities it already serves from afar.

“That area is easy to reach for our Westside customer base, which usually travels very far to our spots in Virgil Village,” Yimcharoen told What Now Los Angeles.

In addition to the WestEdge project, Kinkan currently operates a Kinkan Market concept and offers bento takeout in Hermosa Beach while the Olympic Boulevard location comes together.
