Charlie’s Queer Books plans to open a second Seattle store at 1122 E. Pike Street on Capitol Hill, according to The Stranger. Owner Charlie Hunts told What Now Seattle that an opening date has not yet been set.

Hunts started Charlie’s in 2023, selling books from a disco-tiled cart at Pride events around Seattle. Later that year, he opened the Fremont storefront at 465 N. 36th Street.

The shop specializes in books by LGBTQ+ authors and works featuring queer themes and characters. Customers can also find cookbooks, coloring books, and gifts.

But the Fremont shop has limited room for shelving and events. The Capitol Hill location will give Hunts and co-owner Madeline Burchard more space for both.

The new store will be roughly twice the size of the original and fully ADA accessible. It will occupy the former Post Options space, which was damaged in a 2025 electrical fire.

A 50-seat event area will accommodate programming such as author readings, open mic nights, and silent book clubs. The owners also plan a café and wine bar, giving visitors a place to have a drink during their visit.
