A beloved vegan restaurant, Lulu Green, has announced the closure of its South Boston location and will serve its last bowl this weekend. The second location of the restaurant in Kendall Square, Cambridge, will remain open.

Lulu Green’s South Boston Cafe Set to Close

Boston’s plant-based cafe, Lulu Green, is well known for serving healthy meals and cold-pressed juices. The menu focuses on simple healthy eating and features a wide range of complete vegan dishes.

The restaurant says it prepares its food from scratch daily using seasonal ingredients and locally sourced produce. The restaurant also says it limits refined sugar and oil and does not fry its food.

The Lulu Green team shared the closure announcement on social media and stated the cafe located at 246 West Broadway in South Boston is closing permanently on Saturday, October 17. The team wrote, “After 7 incredible years, the time has come for us to move on to our next chapter.”

The team said the decision was difficult and thanked South Boston residents for their support. In the post, the owners wrote, “South Boston welcomed us with open arms and allowed us to create something truly special – community + connection + friendships that will last a lifetime.”

Second Location in Cambridge Remains Open

While the South Boston location bids farewell to the community, Lulu Green’s new second location will continue to serve the community. Located at 675 W Kendall Street in Cambridge, the restaurant opened its doors in early 2026.

In the post, the team stated that as a small family-owned business, it wants to concentrate on operating the newly opened second location.

“This will allow us to bring our focus under one roof and continue bringing you remarkable plant-based food and drink with lots of fun happenings to come,” said the team.

The team also encouraged the community to visit the South Boston cafe one more time before it shuts down permanently.
