Those rushing to their gate in West Michigan have noticed a new concept in the works.

Boochie Bar has been revealed as the new restaurant coming to Gerald R Ford Airport. This is to be the company’s second location, serving their popular acai bowls and wraps. Owner Jennifer Makowski told What Now Detroit the estimated opening date right now is Nov. 15.

The acai bowl and kombucha concept debuted in September 2023 at 39 Courtland Street in downtown Rockford. It brought an option for those desiring more health-conscious dining, and Makowski has had plans of expanding for a while.

“SO much blood, sweat and tears. Starting a brand from nothing into what I could have never dreamed possible. How is this even my life! To every person who walked in our doors, supported us, left reviews and loved us SO BIG. THANK YOU!” Says a post from Boochie Bar on Facebook.

The kombucha options are one of the main draws for the business, with the choice of flavors like strawberry, ginger and blueberry. Along with the fruit-layered acai bowls, salads, sandwiches, wraps, toast and bagels are also available. Kids options are on the menu like smoothies and protein shakes.

It has not been revealed where exactly the bar and restaurant is being built at the airport, but it is coming to Terminal B. This will be a takeout spot, with additional seating to the right of the ordering area. The airport is on the far southeast side of the city, south of East Grand Rapids.

What Now Detroit has reached out to the Boochie Bar team and is awaiting further comment.
