Neighborhood favorite Momma’s Grocery + Wine is preparing to open a third location at 1175 Cambridge Street in Cambridge’s Wellington-Harrington neighborhood, near Inman Square.

Boston Restaurant Talk reports that the upcoming shop will span roughly 1,000 square feet with additional basement storage and two separate entrances for groceries and ice cream. In addition to its signature maple soft-serve, the shop will serve chocolate and vanilla flavors.

According to the Cambridge Somerville Independent, the expansion is part of the Cambridge Redevelopment Authority’s Neighbor Storefronts Project, an initiative designed to make affordable retail space more accessible to independent businesses. Momma’s is one of three local businesses selected for the project, which offers qualifying tenants affordable, renewable three-year leases and assistance with build-outs and other startup costs.

The new storefront will allow founder Danielle Pattavina room to address some of the limitations of her original shop, which occupies approximately 800 square feet in North Cambridge. While the two existing locations will remain open, the additional space will allow Momma’s to expand its selection, stock more inventory, and offer products that are difficult to accommodate in its current footprint.

Founded in 2023, Momma’s draws on Pattavina’s more than 20 years of experience in the restaurant industry. The shop specializes in New England groceries, natural wines from around the world, and year-round soft-serve ice cream, all with an emphasis on thoughtfully sourced products and supporting local producers.

The shelves are stocked with products sourced directly from New England farmers, including produce, meat, dairy, grains, flowers, and prepared goods such as jams, vinegars, and snacks. The store prioritizes organically grown ingredients and sustainable soil practices.

The wine selection takes a similarly considered approach, highlighting natural and low-intervention bottles from New England and around the world.

Additionally, Momma’s brings wine enthusiasts together through community-focused offerings such as the Cheap + Delicious Wine Club, which features two easy-drinking bottles each month, and an Aromatized Wine Club showcasing bottles such as sherry, amaro, and vermouth. Pattavina also operates Zusammen, a cozy wine bar in North Cambridge that opened last spring.

Construction at 1175 Cambridge Street is expected to wrap up in late October or early November 2026, with a grand opening anticipated for Small Business Saturday on November 28. The debut is expected to be part of a broader celebration along Cambridge Street, spotlighting the independent businesses moving into the new retail development.

What Now Boston has reached out to Pattavina for more information about the new location and will update this story as additional details become available.
