Nordstrom Rack will open a 51,500-square-foot store at 2 Stockton St., San Francisco, in fall 2027, according to Hoodline. The store will occupy the four-story building at the corner of Market and Stockton streets that previously housed a Forever 21 flagship.

Nordstrom Rack is the off-price division of Seattle-based Nordstrom Inc., which started as a shoe store in 1901, according to the company. Co-CEO Erik Nordstrom said in the release that the company is bringing Nordstrom Rack back downtown and pointed to the city’s progress in drawing customers to the area.

The store will sell apparel, accessories, beauty products, home decor, and shoes at up to 70% off, including brands also sold at Nordstrom stores, according to the company. Customers will be able to pick up online orders from Nordstrom.com and NordstromRack.com and make returns at the store. Alterations are available at select Nordstrom Rack locations. Nordstrom Rack president Gemma Lionello said the store will offer brands at lower prices along with online order pickup and returns.

The building is owned and managed by Invesco Real Estate. According to Hoodline, the site is part of a $60 million renovation that includes new facades on Market and Stockton streets.

Nordstrom closed its Westfield San Francisco Centre flagship and its Nordstrom Rack at 901 Market St. in 2023, according to Hoodline. The company currently operates 21 Nordstrom stores, 70 Nordstrom Rack stores, and six Nordstrom Local locations in California, including a Nordstrom Local in Pacific Heights that opened in October 2025.
