Savers Thrift Store is preparing to open at 1736 Skibo Road, Fayetteville, taking over the former Toys “R” Us building near Cross Creek Mall. A recent Instagram post from FayToday News highlighted the project, showing the new Savers signage and a designated Donation Center entrance as work continues at the property.

The former big-box retail space is being adapted for the thrift store, with exterior changes now visible. FayToday News reported that construction is progressing at the site, although the company has not announced an official opening date. The visible progress offers a look at the upcoming store, but a specific debut timeline remains unconfirmed.

According to the company’s website, Savers specializes in secondhand merchandise, giving shoppers the opportunity to browse a changing selection of pre-owned goods. Its stores typically offer categories such as clothing, shoes, accessories, household items and other reusable merchandise. The Fayetteville location is expected to include a donation area, with the entrance identified in the images shared by FayToday News.

The addition will give Fayetteville shoppers another destination for secondhand shopping along Skibo Road, a busy commercial corridor near Cross Creek Mall. The location’s reuse-focused retail format also provides an option for people looking to pass along usable items rather than discard them.

Savers operates as part of a wider thrift retail business that promotes reuse through the resale of secondhand goods. The company explains on its official website that it accepts donations on behalf of nonprofit partners and purchases donated goods from those organizations, helping support their programs.

For now, the Fayetteville store remains an upcoming opening, with no confirmed grand-opening date announced in the source post.
