According to public filings, H-E-B is preparing to bring a new grocery store to Garland, with construction expected to begin next spring.
The proposed store is planned for a 21-acre site between Crist Road and Firewheel Parkway, near President George Bush Turnpike.
H-E-B is a Texas-based supermarket chain headquartered in San Antonio. Founded in 1905, the company operates grocery stores throughout Texas and Mexico, offering fresh produce, meat, seafood, bakery items, household essentials and other products.
What Now Dallas reached out to H-E-B representatives for information about the opening timeline but did not receive a response before publication. Permitting records list a construction completion date of March 2028. However, dates listed in public filings are not always definitive.
According to its website, H-E-B operates more than 440 stores and has continued expanding across North Texas, bringing its stores to communities throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
The Garland location would add to H-E-B’s growing North Texas footprint. The San Antonio-based grocer has expanded into communities including Prosper, Forney and Fort Worth as it continues building its presence in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
What Now Houston has previously covered Joe V’s Smart Shop’s plans for two Houston-area stores. The publication has also reported on businesses planned for H-E-B developments, including JuiceLand’s planned location at H-E-B Alliance in Fort Worth.
