The displaced Old Fourth Ward concert venue is making Kenny’s Alley its home. For now.

Rumors late last week surfaced that The Masquerade, Old Fourth Ward’s displaced music venue, would reopen in Downtown’s Underground Atlanta instead of West Midtown as originally planned.

That’s partially true.

The Masquerade is in fact moving to Underground Atlanta, but only temporarily, Greg Green, the venue’s general manager, told What Now Atlanta in a telephone conversation Monday. Moments later, Creative Loafing broke the news.

“Beginning in late October, The Masquerade will be taking over three spaces which will be labeled with the iconic Heaven, Hell and Purgatory brandings,” The Masquerade said in a statement late last week. “Renovations are underway to transform the spaces into concert-ready venues.”

The Masquerade inked a deal to open inside a large low-rise building off Huff Road in Blandtown, but that deal fell through when a developer building a subdivision nearby took the music venue to court, claiming the project would be a nuisance to their housing project.

It’s “too premature” to announce where The Masquerade will permanently land, according to Green, “but we do have an idea of where we are going next.”
