Barefoot Dreams is preparing to open a new retail store on Montana Avenue in Santa Monica, with the location expected to debut in early 2027.

Founded in Malibu in 1994 by Annette Cook, Barefoot Dreams began with children’s products before growing into a lifestyle brand known for its soft blankets, throws, robes, loungewear and apparel. Its collections include products for men, women, children, babies and pets, as well as home goods and licensed merchandise.

What Now Los Angeles reached out to David Barton, the company’s director of stores, who confirmed that the Santa Monica location is under construction. He said the store is expected to open around the end of 2026 or the beginning of 2027, with early 2027 being the most likely timeline.

The opening is part of the Malibu-based brand’s efforts to grow its network of company-operated stores. “We’re planning on expanding our retail,” Barton said.

Barton explained that the Santa Monica store will give the company another opportunity to connect directly with customers through its own locations, beyond department stores and wholesale partners.

Barefoot Dreams has also recently expanded its presence in San Diego County. The brand opened its first Carlsbad store at Carlsbad Premium Outlets on November 3. It also operates a location at Camarillo Premium Outlets.

While the Carlsbad store operates as an outlet, the planned Santa Monica location will offer the brand’s full-price retail experience.

Barton said the new stores will help the company test the San Diego market and build toward additional full-price and outlet locations in San Diego County and Orange County.

Barefoot Dreams products are also available through department stores and specialty retailers, including Nordstrom and Bloomingdale’s. The brand has been featured in Oprah’s Favorite Things selections more than 10 times.
