A new drinking destination is on the way to Lake Norman, taking the term “waterfront property” to a new level. Vitale Hospitality Group, which just opened Vitale Lakeside in Mooresville (1459 River Highway), is working on opening a floating bar at the property, Charlotte Business Journal reports. Called Getaway Bar, it will offer a place for boaters to park in a slip, sip, and socialize right on the lake.
Vitale Lakeside debuted with a soft opening in late October at a waterfront property that previously housed Queens Landing. But the restaurant and event venue is just the beginning for the project; an upstairs lounge, Bonnie & Clyde’s, will open in the coming months, and Getaway Bar is set to begin operations in March.
It will be surrounded by 25 boat slips, allowing visitors to access the venue directly from the water and bringing a new way for boaters and other visitors to enjoy the lake. Gennaro and Susan Vitale, co-founders of Vitale Hospitality Group, successfully secured Lake Norman’s only floating bar permit.
Vitale Hospitality Group’s other concepts include Charlotte’s Midtown Tavern, Dilworth Social, World Nightclub, and the original Bonnie and Clyde’s Lounge along Providence Road.
