As reported in the Dayton Daily News, a new spot for grabbing something to drink, small bites and curling up with a good book is on its way to the Dayton community. While its not unheard of for bookstores to feature a coffeeshop inside, this one will feature a wine bar. Swoon Books & Wine will open early next year at 2504 Far Hills Ave, in the heart of the Shops of Oakwood.

The concept is a partnership between Lauren Gay, a CMS certified sommelier who also owns the wine bar Joui Wine, and Lindsay Woodruff, the founder and owner of Maraluna, a retail shop in Oakwood that offers a curated collection of ethical and sustainable goods.

Swoon Books & Wine will focus on two things the owners believe women readers can’t get enough of: romance novels and wine. The shop will offer wines by the glass, cocktails such as martinis and spritz, beer and non-alcoholic options. And, there will be a selection of sweet and savory bites made by local chefs and bakers.

“Swoon is more than just a bookstore. It’s a gathering place, a place to come and unwind with a glass of wine after a long hard day,” Gay said in a promotional video that appears on the concept’s crowdfunding campaign page

The 1,200-square-foot interior’s aesthetic will be designed by The Idea Collective, the team behind Dayton concepts such as Tender Mercy and Sueño. The owners aim to create an immersive experience that leans on elements of rococo art style, which is known for its elegance, ornamentation, curving natural forms and often the use of pastel colors.

Currently the timeline for opening Swoon Books & Wine is slated for February 2025, but follow the business on Facebook and Instagram to keep updated.
