The project is seeking General Contractor bids.

Baywood Hotels has plans to convert the Midtown Regency Suites into a Home2 Suites By Hilton.

The hotel management and development company purchased the property last August for nearly $15.7 million.

The nine-story, 96-room hotel, will undergo a complete overhaul in becoming the Home2 Suites brand. The site, at 975 West Peachtree Street NW, is at the intersection of 10th and West Peachtree Streets.

Chris Desai, a principal at Baywood Hotels overseeing the project, Thursday in a telephone interview with What Now Atlanta confirmed the news.

Desai was not immediately available to comment on the project. Baywood has properties in Miami, Florida and Desai and his team this week are busy making preparations for Hurricane Irma.

In January, Baywood filed a permit application with Fulton County for the project’s first phase.

Phase one calls for interior renovations to the existing guest rooms and corridors at an estimated cost of $1,500,000.

Additional work for the Home2 Suites overhaul will include the demolition and installation of new flooring, wall covering, textures, fixtures, new finishes, replacement of equipment, and case goods.

First-floor renovations will include the reworking of the existing bar and buffet, the addition of a market area, and the updating of finishes.

Permits for the additional renovations are expected to be filed later this year.

The project is taking bids September 21 for a General Contractor.
