UPDATE (August 2, 2018): The Barrelhouse Has Found A New Home In Former Cast Iron Space

Cast Iron will sometime in the “next several weeks” close its Old Fourth Ward doors for good.

The restaurant announced the news Thursday on its Facebook page.

“Great News! For the next several weeks, we’ll be serving bacon cheeseburgers,” according to Cast Iron’s social media post. “Not so great news: at the end of those weeks, Cast Iron will be closing its doors for good.”

There’s a bittersweet history for the restaurant’s burger.

“Our burger was listed in the top 100 dishes in Atlanta last year, of which I am both appreciative and humbled. At the end of 2017, we had to make some tough decisions, and when the dust settled our burger was no longer available…”

The restaurant, at 701-5 Highland Ave NE, in November 2016 replaced Last Word (and P’Cheen before that.)

The corner of Sampson Street and Highland Avenue isn’t having good restaurant luck lately.

Across The Street, the Mexican restaurant across the street from Cast Iron, last week closed its doors.
