A brewer at one of Atlanta’s most prominent breweries is jumping ship in August to open his own concept, Sabbath Brewing.

Until then, the owner of the forthcoming East Atlanta Village microbrewery, needs to remain anonymous for obvious reasons.

Set to open by Halloween 2018, Sabbath Brewing will replace the now-shuttered EAV Barbell Club, at 530 Flat Shoals Avenue SE—space that was once a welder’s shop.

“[Sabbath Brewing] will be an open-floor plan with the full brewing system on display,” the owner Thursday told What Now Atlanta in an email.

“The floors are black concrete with an exposed painted white brick on the walls and many wooden beams overhead.”

The concept will focus on farmhouse ales, sour beer and IPAs and future plans include roasting coffee and espresso.

Taking advantage of the new beer laws allowing on-site sales to consumers, Sabbath will not distribute through a wholesaler.
