Columbia Residential is in the “final design stage” for a 108-unit “mixed-income” apartment community in East Lake.
A project name hasn’t been determined and renderings have not been finalized, a project spokesperson Monday told What Now Atlanta over the phone.
“Columbia Fayetteville” is being used internally while details are solidified, referencing the developer and the project’s cross street.
Situated at 2201 Glenwood Ave SE, Columbia Fayetteville would be built from the ground up on a vacant plot behind a Publix supermarket.
The community would feature four three-story “walk-up buildings with modern unit finishes, including stoves, microwaves, HVAC, Energy Star refrigerators, and dishwashers, as well as fire suppression canisters,” according to a proposal to the City of Atlanta.
The community would also feature amenities such as a playground and community building with a business center, fitness center, and laundry facility.
70 percent of the units will be set aside for low-income families, including 20 percent for “very” low-income households making less than 50 percent of the Atlanta-area median family income (AMFI).
The remaining low-income units will be reserved for families making less than 60 percent of AMFI.
Columbia Fayetteville would feature 16 one bedroom units, 56 two bedroom units, and 36 three bedroom units.
The community would be part of a mixed-use development located at the intersection of Glenwood Ave and Fayetteville Road, with 44,600 square feet of new retail development.
Site work preparation permits earlier this year were filed with the City of Atlanta for the project.
Developing…

I really need help with affordable rent..moving to Atlanta as a hairstylist..
The subheading says, “Three nine-story residential buildings and a community building will be built from the ground up behind Publix”. But the body of the article says, “The community would feature four three-story walk-up buildings…”. Which one is it? I’m guessing it’s 3-story walk up, but want to confirm.
KTMc, thanks for bringing this to our attention. It’s the latter. We’ve since updated the article ~ Caleb
