Social Market and Cafe later this year will debut in downtown’s historic Healey Building.

The grab-and-go or stay-and-lounge urban market catering to nearby office workers and Georgia State University students, will replace JR Crickets and an adjacent corner space, at 57 Forsyth Street NW (suites 49 – 53).

Mahsa S. Kimes, the owner of Cafe Cubism in SunTrust Plaza, is behind Social Market and Cafe.

It will offer quick-service eats like housemade sandwiches, and a salad and hot bar, the restauranteur in a telephone interview Wednesday told What Now Atlanta.

A beverage station will serve coffee and smoothies.

Beer and wine will be added down the road when a liquor license is secured.

Social Market and Cafe’s expansive 3,104-square-foot space also will include a lounge area for “sitting, chatting, and working.”

High-speed internet and plugs will be available to keep devices charged and connected, including USB ports.

Kimes is aiming for a “soft” opening in late-September.

“We’re really excited to open in the Healey Building and to be a part of the continued growth of the City of Atlanta,” Kimes said.

“We look forward to serving homecooked and nutritious meals to the people that live and work in the area.”

Ingredients will be sourced from local Georgia farms and even from nearby farmer’s markets.

“We’re very particular about where the food we serve comes from and about supporting the greater community.”

Kimes said if she won’t eat it, don’t expect it to be on the menu. Social Market and Cafe will grill and bake its food and there won’t be anything fried.

“Our team comes in early in the morning and we prep and cook everything we serve same-day,” Kimes said.

“You don’t have to pay a lot of money to get quality food.”
