Home improvement “supermall” Improve is moving forward with plans to open its first U.S. location.

The Canada-based company is headed to Doraville, at 6945 Button Gwinnett Drive, where Atlanta Furniture Market was once situated.

Construction on the 418,000-square-foot showroom is expected to begin at the end of 2019, a representative for Improve Tuesday told What Now Atlanta in a telephone interview.

Improve is slated to debut late-2021, they said.

The supermall will house 429 independent home improvement vendors across “38 home renovation-related categories,” each of which will rent its 400-square-foot space within Improve, according to marketing materials for the project.

Plans also call for “thousands of parking spots,” coffee shops, restaurants, meeting and exhibit facilities, a rooftop patio, gym, and playground areas.

Ahead of construction, Improve is hosting a two-day outdoor home improvement show, August 17 and 18, at the site.

Admission and parking for the event are free.

In 2018, the company purchased the 8.4-acre parcel just northeast of the Interstate 285 Perimeter where it will build the new supermall.

Improve was first announced for Doraville in 2016.

  • I look forward to this concept. However, I think these rendering are old. At this time, as shown on their website, there will no longer be any outside space. It appears to be completely under one roof.
