Anthony Spina, the owner of O4W Pizza and co-owner of Nina & Rafi, is opening a pizzeria in Virginia-Highland tentatively called Pizza By The Slice.

Pizza By The Slice will replace a piece of the now-shuttered Goin’ Coastal, at 1021 Virginia Avenue NE.

Landlord Gene Kansas Commercial Real Estate in a press release Monday announced the news.

Following Goin’ Coastal’s closure in November, the developer took the seafood restaurant space, which sits adjacent the for-sale Paolo’s Gelato, and divided it into three small suites, each roughly 1,000 square feet.

“Virginia-Highland as a neighborhood is known for walkability and great restaurants,” Ted Bradford of Gene Kansas CRE, said in the release.

“With Pizza By The Slice, we are bringing the highest quality pizza in the city to a laid-back, everyday kind of environment. It’s perfect for a family dinner, the little league team party, or late night after the bar.”

Spina told Eater Atlanta plans are still in development including the restaurant’s name.

Sicilian-style pizza will be at the menu’s focus, he said.

The restauranteur was not immediately available to comment Monday.
