La Calavera Bakery over the weekend will officially relocate from Decatur to Kirkwood, a move that has been in the works since at least January 2018.

The new La Calavera Bakery will open Saturday, Sept. 14, replacing a daycare center near Ann’s Snack Bar, at 1696 Memorial Drive SE.

Its last day in Decatur, at 747 E College Ave. C, is Friday, Sept. 13, following a five-year run.

“We’re very grateful to our customers for your patience, for getting your bread and treats from {La Calavera Bakery} over the years, and for making it possible for us to get to this point,” Owners Dale Ralston and Eric Arillo posted to the company’s Facebook page on Thursday.

“Most of all we’re grateful to our folks, who help us every step of the way. See you Saturday!”

La Calavera Bakery retails housed-baked whole-grain and sourdough bread using its freshly-milled flour, as well as Mexican pan dulce and other “tasty treats.”

The company offers both organic and conventional options and sources its fruit and vegetables from small, local farms.
