Grammy Award-winning producer Mustard and rapper YG are moving quickly to expand southern-style eatery Fishbone Seafood after taking an ownership stake in the company earlier this year. Since becoming co-owners in June, these two entrepreneurial friends in August already opened a Fishbone Seafood in Torrance and now have plans to bring a location to Long Beach, at 321 E Willow St.

YG and Mustard were friends for some time before deciding to go into business together earlier this year. The duo was approached by one of the owners of Fishbone Seafood with a proposition, YG reminisced in a press release at the time of the acquisition. “I met one of the owners at a gas station, and he told me we should do business,” YG said. “I called Mustard and told him about the opportunity, and he was ready to go.” When the pair became co-owners, there were already seven locations.

Fishbone Seafood’s food flare comes in the form of classic fast-food seafood options. Southern sides like collard greens, hush puppies, and sweet potato pie are offered alongside shrimp, oysters, and fried or grilled fish.

An opening timeline for the Long Beach location has not yet been announced but Fishbone Seafood under the direction of its new co-owners are wasting no time investing in the surrounding community. The company this year has given $100,000 worth of food back to LA residents by way of a partnership with Postmates.
