Hiroshi Tokairin, the restaurateur behind Ototo Sushi Co., is developing a new Japanese eatery that will focus on takeout and delivery only. The 800 square-foot space will not offer a dining room.

Slated to open in summer 2021, at 8135-8155 Mira Mesa Blvd in Mira Mesa Shopping Center West, the new eatery could be called “Tora Tora” which is Japanese for “Tiger Tiger,” Tokairin told What Now San Diego in a telephone interview Thursday.

Tokairin was low on information as the details are still being worked through, he said. In many ways, Tora Tora will be like Ototo, less the dine-in experience.

The surfer-themed, Japanese eatery serves traditional and modern sushi, ramen, dunburi, and poke, with locations in Clairemont, Del Sur, and Liberty Station.
