The latest development for the Atlanta-based organization is its announcement of four new members for its board of trustees. From chefs to founders, the fresh faces bring along rich experiences from diverse backgrounds.
Michael Astwood
As the founder of ASRT, Inc., Michael Astwood has been providing specialized expertise and science-based solutions in health and medicine to federal, state, and local governments. Astwood’s previous role was as the chief operating officer at IHRC, Inc.
The new Meals on Wheels Atlanta (MOWA) board of trustees member has an educational background in microbiology and molecular biology from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Astwood’s master’s degree in medical bioinformatics further emphasizes his industry expertise.
Kevin Gillespie
Kevin Gillespie is a renowned chef, restaurateur, cookbook author, and speaker. Gillespie rose to national prominence during Season 6 of Bravo’s “Top Chef.” He opened Nàdair and Gunshow, which are both MICHELIN Guide-recommended restaurants.
Gillespie was a finalist for the 2022 James Beard Foundation’s Outstanding Restaurateur award. He was a finalist in 2016 and a semifinalist in 2015 and 2017 for the Foundation’s Best Chef: South award as well. Gillespie also became a semifinalist for its Rising Star Chef of the Year award three times consecutively.
Michelle Marshall
Michelle Marshall is the founder and CEO of The PurposeWell Group, a consulting and impact strategy firm that designs purpose-driven programs, partnerships, and experiences at the intersection of culture, equity, and opportunity.
Marshall previously served as the head of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Social Impact for PUMA North America.
Alfredo Martin
Alfredo Martin serves as the executive director of The Columbia Foundation, focusing on philanthropic initiatives in children’s education, the arts, and other causes. Martin brings over two decades of financial experience working for Deloitte, KPMG, The Financial Times, Ford Motor Company, and General Motors.
Martin also serves on the boards of the Atlanta Chamber Players, the advisory council of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and the Atlanta Opera.
