Metro Atlanta Restaurants Health Inspection Report July 2025

The GNR County Health Department cited eight restaurants across Metro Atlanta and offered them low scores & grades for food code violations.

The GNR County Health Department conducted food safety inspections at restaurants throughout Metro Atlanta in July 2025. While many establishments met safety standards, several failed to achieve the minimum passing score of 70. Restaurants that received failing scores were scheduled for follow-up inspections.

Please note that the results mentioned here are from food safety inspections conducted in July 2025 and may not demonstrate the future health inspection status of the food establishments.

Restaurants Failed Routine Inspections and Are Awaiting Follow-Ups

After failing to receive the passing score in July, about three Metro Atlanta restaurants are waiting for a follow-up inspection by the GNR County Health Department.

Honey Creek Wings

This Conyers-based wings joint received a low score due to multiple violations, including the absence of a Person in Charge (PIC). Honey Creek Wings was further cited for a lack of knowledge shown by the PIC, who couldn’t identify food allergens. Missing cleansers at the handwash sink were reported.

Unwashed food items were stored above ready-to-eat items at Honey Creek Wings. The on-site inspector noted that the casual wings establishment wasn’t adhering to the required 41°F limit for TCS foods. Employees were also found working without proper hair restraints.

Based on the inspection, the GNR County Health Department offered a 37 U score to Honey Creek Wings. While a follow-up was scheduled for July 18, no official details are available currently.

Fire Wings and Hibachi

Fire Wings and Hibachi was temporarily closed due to improper food storage and other health code violations. Absence of PIC alongside the staff working without gloves or hair restraints was observed at the Snellville-based establishment.

Unwashed mushrooms were stored above ready-to-eat produce, including lettuce. The chicken facility demonstrated other food code violations, including improper time control measures for holding food items. Employee cellphones were found in the food prep area.

As per the varied food safety violations at Fire Wings and Hibachi, the GNR County officials asked it to perform corrective procedures. A follow-up may be conducted anytime within the 10 days of the inspection, which was conducted on July 28.

Mikado

The GNR County Health ordered a temporary shutdown of food operations at Mikado due to breaches of food code parameters. A lack of managerial control was observed at the sushi spot in Buford. The on-site inspector found the facility to be working without signing the employee health forms for two Mikado staff members.

Oysters at the sushi spot didn’t have the last 90-day tags. Chicken was cooked to just 145°F, falling short of the required 165°F threshold. The GNR County member highlighted the missing consumer advisory on Mikado’s menu for undercooked items. Additionally, the start and end time labeling were missing for the sushi rice.

Due to these and other violations, a follow-up inspection was recommended within 10 days. Till then, Mikado has been asked to follow corrective measures.

Uncle Jack’s Meat House

The steakhouse in Sugarloaf was cited for a range of sanitation and food safety violations. Uncle Jack’s Meat House lacked proper control of the PIC. Employee drinks were stored along the cook line, and they were cleaning dining tables with changing cloth towels.

Date marks were absent in the American cheese and mussel tag. The ideal temperature of 41°F and expiration date were not paid attention to in the case of pork, mozzarella cheese, and other food items. Dead and live flies were observed in the premises of Uncle Jack’s Meat House.

The GNR County Health Department scheduled a follow-up inspection at the Duluth-based steakhouse outlet within the next 10 days. As the deadline is still has some time, Uncle Jack’s Meat House should take corrective steps.

Wings House

The chicken spot’s low 50 U score was a result of varied food code violations on July 31. Wings House demonstrated a lack of managerial control, with the PIC being absent during the routine inspection. Food storage and cross-contamination issues were highlighted by the on-site inspector.

The staff at Wings House stored vinegar beside chemicals in the food prep area. Food items like fries, peas, and carrots were thawing on the chicken spot’s food prep table. The location failed to maintain the required 135°F hot-holding temperature for certain food items.

Wings House currently awaits a follow-up inspection, which can take place within 10 days of its routine inspection. The GNR County has advised the Atlanta establishment to take corrective steps by then.

Restaurants That Failed Routine Inspection but Passed Follow-Up Inspections

Three of the eight Metro Atlanta restaurants that failed their routine inspections in July have already undergone follow-up inspections. All of them managed to clear their respective inspections. Some will now undergo an additional routine inspection in the coming months.

Hardee’s #1506168

A Conyers-based Hardee’s outlet had failed a routine health inspection on July 16, scoring 62 with a U grade. However, it was able to pass the follow-up inspection on July 22 with a score of 93 and obtained the ‘A’ grade.

Minor issues such as improper storage of frozen food and dirty utensils were addressed during the follow-up. Dirty pans & utensils and an incorrect inspection report being posted were highlighted and corrected on the site.

An additional routine reinspection will be conducted at the Conyers-based food establishment in the coming 60 days.

Mundo Gourmet Fast Food

The Venezuelan restaurant was offered 67 points based on the food code violations during a July 17 routine inspection. Mundo Gourmet passed its follow-up inspection conducted by the GNR County Health Department on July 23. It was offered a score of 88 B.

During the routine inspection, a few violations were corrected on the site by Mundo Gourmet’s staff. These included maintaining food holding temperatures and proper display of the inspection report.

Pita Mediterranean Street Food

Pita Mediterranean Street Food passed a follow-up inspection by the GNR County Health Department on July 31. It was offered an ‘A’ grade based on its score of 98 points. Before this, the Peachtree Corners-based food facility could get only 61 points based on its multiple health violations.

In the latest follow-up inspection, Pita Mediterranean Street Food corrected the highlighted violations on the site. This included posting a recent inspection report at the facility and air-drying utensils.

Pita Mediterranean Street Food will undergo an additional routine inspection in the next 12 months.

The periodic inspections by the GNR County Health Department efficiently ensure that the area’s restaurants adhere to their set food safety parameters. A failure of compliance would lead to a low score, followed by permit revocation.
