  • We have some wonderful memories of this restaurant, along with the hotel, thanks to the warm-hearted GM we were fortunate enough to become friends with. He was very proud of that hotel, and you could just about feel his excitement over planned changes we were allowed to see previews of one year. He belived very strongly that guests should be treated correctly, and we recall how one year one of the area tourist attractions had a shop inside the hotel. The shop included a few items from the hotel itself, including a jar of steak seasoning created by one of his longtime friend-chefs. It was called Waldo’s Crystals. BUT — that shop owner decided to sell the jars for a very inflated price, even though they could be obtained for a very low price inside the Sun Dial Restaurant. When that GM heard about that, since we happened to mention it in a letter we wrote after our departure, commeting on how there was such a difference from the jars we had already purchased from the hotel’s top-story restaurant. He reportedly almost ran from his office to that shop, with the letter in hand, almost knocking over the hotel’s limo-driver in the process! His long-time secretary apparently knew how strongly he felt about his fairness to guests/others, & so apparently put that letter purposely at the top of his morning mail-stack — then waited for the “show” to begin…. So the shop apparently stopped that inflated pricing for what the GM had allowed him so sell in the first pace — only because he was good friends with the GM of another landmark property, who staffed that particular store inside the Peachtree.
